Joanna is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the State of Minnesota. Since earning her Master of Social Work degree in 2009, she has provided outpatient psychotherapy for clients ages five and older. Joanna serves individuals with a large variety of mental health needs, and has extensive experience treating adolescents, young adults, and couples.
Since a very young age, Joanna has known that she wanted to help others and assist with creating positive change. She is fascinated by getting to know each person within the context of their family of origin, community, support network, strengths, and experiences. Joanna uses a client-centered approach with strong roots in cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness skills. She also specializes in treating simple and complex trauma, using a trauma focused cognitive-behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) approach. Joanna strives to assist each client in developing skills and insight, while simultaneously respecting their right to self-determination. Joanna has been married for ten years and has two children. Outside of her practice, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, participating in the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra Chorus, reading, and playing tennis.
