At Harbor City Psychological Services we believe in thoroughly assessing your needs and working with you to develop a plan to reach your goals. We believe that it is important that you understand your client rights, responsibilities, and obligations.
Voluntary Participation
All services provided at Harbor City Psychological Services are voluntary services and you may choose to discontinue services at any time. Your consent for participation in services will be requested at the initial interview.
Confidentiality
Services provided by Harbor City Psychological Services are considered confidential and fall under the Heath Information Privacy Accountability Act (HIPAA). Therefore, information shared cannot be released without your written authorization and consent unless it meets one of the criteria indicated below:[arrow_list]
- There is reason to suspect the abuse or neglect of a child, vulnerable adult, or elderly person. As mandated reporters our clinicians are obligated by law to report suspected incidents of abuse or neglect to the proper authority.
- There is risk of imminent harm to yourself and disclosure is necessary to prevent the threatened risk of harm or danger to self.
- Risk of imminent harm or threat to another person and disclosure is necessary to prevent the risk of harm or danger to another person.
- Court Order to release information.
